Skye Canyon's annual Fit Fest returns March 7 with 5K/8K road races, 1-mile fun runs, and family activities including rock walls and obstacles.

Lace Up Those Running Shoes, Vegas

Living in Vegas, we're blessed with year-round weather that makes outdoor fitness events a real treat. Skye Canyon is bringing back their annual Fit Fest on Saturday, March 7, and this one’s shaping up to be perfect for anyone looking to shake off those winter cobwebs. Whether you’re a serious runner or someone who just wants to get the family moving, this northwest Vegas community event has something for your fitness level.

The day kicks off with both a 5K/8K road race and a 1-mile fun run, so you can pick your challenge. What I love about community events like this is how they bring together everyone from competitive athletes to families with strollers. The Skye Canyon community really knows how to create that inclusive atmosphere where nobody feels left out of the fun.

More Than Just Running

Here’s what makes this different from your typical race - they’re thinking about the whole family experience. Kids get their own entertainment with a rock wall and inflatable obstacle course, which means parents can actually focus on their run knowing the little ones are having a blast. After you cross that finish line, local food trucks will be there to help you refuel, and honestly, post-race food always tastes better.

The Vendor Village is expanding this year with more than 20 health and wellness merchants setting up shop. It’s like having a mini health expo right in your neighborhood, perfect for discovering new local businesses or fitness gear you didn’t know you needed. Registration packets come loaded with goodies too - a finisher’s medal, event pin, race t-shirt, and goodie bag make it feel like you’re getting solid value for your entry fee.

Supporting Our Veterans

What really gets me excited about this event is how the proceeds support the Kline Veterans Fund. This local nonprofit helps homeless and at-risk veterans and their families right here in Southern Nevada. When you can combine getting fit with supporting our community’s veterans, that’s the kind of event worth showing up for. It's part of Skye Canyon's Skye Serves program, showing this community takes caring for neighbors seriously.
