Delirious Hockey Club Charity Skate Raises $2,300 at Silver Sevens

A sold-out recreational hockey game at Las Vegas Ice Center turned into a $2,300 fundraiser for Sin City FD Sports, the nonprofit that keeps Southern Nevada firefighters active and connected off-shift. Don Barnhart, founder of Delirious Comedy Club, organized the Delirious Hockey Club Charity Skate with co-sponsor Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino, followed by a $1 raffle and lunch at Brooksy's Bar & Grill packed with prizes from local businesses like Butcher & Thief, Carson Kitchen and…

Quick Facts

  • What: Delirious Hockey Club Charity Skate, benefiting Sin City FD Sports
  • When: Friday, August 21, 2026
  • Where: Las Vegas Ice Center (skate), followed by lunch and raffle at Brooksy's Bar & Grill
  • Amount raised: $2,300
  • Raffle tickets: $1 each, prizes donated by local businesses

The format was straightforward. Players skated in the morning in a sold-out recreational game, then everyone moved over to Brooksy’s Bar & Grill for lunch and a raffle. The raffle is really where the number adds up — tickets went for $1 apiece, so anyone in the room could buy in whether or not they’d laced up skates that morning. Prize donations came from a mix of local businesses: a Silver Sevens staycation package, Las Vegas show tickets, dinners at Butcher & Thief and Carson Kitchen, GOLFTEC and Golf Oasis prizes, hockey jerseys and sticks, spa certificates, dermatology gift baskets, and wine.

That’s a fairly wide net of Vegas small and mid-size businesses putting product behind a cause most tourists will never hear about. Nobody’s flying in for this. It’s a local hockey rink, a local sports bar, and a local firehouse nonprofit, and it’s the kind of event that never shows up in Strip coverage even though it's the kind of thing that actually knits a community together.

Who Sin City FD Sports Is For

Sin City FD Sports isn’t a household name outside the fire service, and it isn’t trying to be. It organizes athletic activities for members of the Southern Nevada fire service, with the goal of building fitness, mental wellness, and camaraderie among firefighters. Anyone who’s spent time around first responders knows the job runs on adrenaline in short bursts and long stretches of downtime in between, and burnout is a real occupational hazard. A charity skate raising a few thousand dollars isn’t going to fund an entire wellness program, but it funds something, and Barnhart made clear this wasn't about the score on the ice.

“It was a fantastic skate — fun, friendly and with just the right amount of competition,” Barnhart said. “But what really mattered was seeing everyone come together. From the skaters and spectators to everyone who joined us for lunch, bought raffle tickets, donated prizes or supported us from afar, the generosity was incredible.”

Delirious Comedy Club's Bigger Year

This charity skate landed in the middle of what’s already a milestone stretch for Delirious. The club is marking 10 years of producing comedy in Las Vegas in 2026, and it’s coming up on its first anniversary operating out of Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino, the off-Strip property on Paradise Road that’s become its home base. Over that decade, Barnhart’s team says they’ve put on more than 3,000 live performances, expanding from straight stand-up into House of Magic Las Vegas, Delirious TV, and Delirious After Dark.

The club also picked up five nominations in the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s 2026 Best of Las Vegas awards this year, covering the club itself, Barnhart individually, and House of Magic. None of that is directly tied to the charity skate, but it’s context worth having: this is a business that’s spent 10 years building a local footprint and chose to spend one of its milestone weekends on a firefighter fundraiser instead of another anniversary show.

“Las Vegas has supported us for 10 years, and we believe it’s important to give something back,” Barnhart said. “Sometimes that means putting on a comedy show, and sometimes it means putting on a pair of skates. If we can bring people together, have some laughs and help a great organization at the same time, that’s a win.”

Why the Number Matters More Than It Sounds

$2,300 isn’t a number that moves headlines. But break down where it came from — a sold-out recreational skate, a lunch crowd, $1 raffle tickets, and a stack of donated prizes from local restaurants, golf shops, and spas — and it’s a fundraiser that ran almost entirely on people showing up rather than writing large checks. That’s a different model than the galas and celebrity poker tournaments that dominate Vegas charity coverage. It’s closer to a neighborhood potluck with skates on.

Barnhart summed it up simply: “That's a pretty good day.”

Delirious Comedy Club runs Don Barnhart & Friends and House of Magic Las Vegas out of its Silver Sevens showroom, along with occasional community events like this one. Check the Delirious Comedy Club website for showtimes and future events, and keep an eye out for another charity skate — this one sold out, which suggests there's demand for more than one round a year.
