A lot of casinos chase the young high-roller crowd and forget who actually shows up on a Tuesday afternoon with time on their hands and a AAA card in their wallet. Silverton hasn’t forgotten. The property has leaned into the aquarium, the mermaid shows, and the bass pro fishing tank for years, and now it’s leaning into the regulars who’ve been coming since the place was more of a locals’ secret than a stop on anybody’s Strip itinerary.

Fifty percent off at four different restaurants is a real discount, not a rounding error. WuHu Noodle alone can run close to that $25 cap for two people depending on what you order, so this isn’t a coupon for a side salad. Su Casa Sushi Bar is the one I’d point people toward first — it’s consistently one of the better sushi spots off the Strip, and getting half off there on a Monday is the kind of thing that turns a special occasion into a weekly habit.

The timing this year gives it a little extra weight. National Senior Citizens Day is Friday, and Silverton’s Monday deal lands right after, on Aug. 24. It’s not billed as a Senior Citizens Day event exactly, it’s the same Fab 50+ Monday that happens every week, but the calendar lines up nicely enough that it’s worth mentioning together.

Discovery Rewards is Silverton’s players club, free to join, with an enrollment counter right there on the casino floor if you don’t already have a card. I took my grandkids to the Silverton aquarium a few summers back to watch the divers feed the sharks, and the woman at the rewards desk signed me up on the spot while the kids pressed their faces against the tank glass. Took about five minutes.

The Free Slot Play piece, up to $100, is a chance, not a guarantee, so don’t walk in expecting a check. But paired with half-off dinner and a possible discount on a room if you’re an AARP member, it's a decent excuse to make the drive out to Blue Diamond Road on a Monday instead of staying home.

Full details, including specific participation requirements, are posted on Silverton Casino's event page.
