Kid-Friendly Magic Shows in Las Vegas

Piff the Magic Dragon

Best for teenagers

Flamingo Showroom, Flamingo7pmAll ages

A deadpan Englishman in a dragon suit with a chihuahua called Mr. Piffles. Officially all ages and the magic is genuinely good, but the humour is dry and occasionally near the knuckle. Teenagers love it; small children will mostly enjoy the dog.

Allstars of Magic

Best variety

V Theater, Planet Hollywood4pmAll ages

A rotating afternoon showcase of several magicians rather than one headliner, so if one act does not land the next is along in ten minutes. The bill changes; check who is advertised for your date.

House of Magic

House of Magic Las Vegas

Best off-Strip

2nd floor, Silver SevensThu–Sun, 5pmPG-13

An off-Strip room with rotating resident headliners, close-up work and comedy magic at a fraction of Strip prices. Rated PG-13 and minors must be with an adult, so it suits older children rather than little ones. Under-12s get half price.

Criss Angel MINDFREAK

Loud, with a caveat

Criss Angel Theater, Planet Hollywood7pmAll ages

Listed as all ages and the spectacle is real: 75 minutes, more than 75 illusions. But it is the loudest production in town, with heavy pyro, strobe and volume. Fine for confident older children, a lot for anyone sensitive to noise or flashing light.

Best for older children

Palazzo Theatre, The VenetianWed–Sun, 7:30pmAges 4+

Technically the finest magic on the Strip, and admitted from age 4. Be realistic though: it is quiet, close-up card work shot to screens, with almost no talking. Children who like watching skill will be rapt; children who want spectacle will fidget.
